Wondering about the logo ?

it comes from the game of Go, Weiqi in chinese, Igo in Japanese, Baduk in Korean.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Go_%28board_game%29

It is much about network between entities of the same value,

the stones,

played on the board one after another by each player, black and white,

then never moved again,

Both players do their best to optimize their moves to create a bigger territory that their opponent.

At the end of the game, the player with more points wins the game.

Rules are very easy but can get very complex indeed.

A continual discussion between the two players and their stones on the board.

Just like life,

we start with a empty board,

we learn, experience, change directions,

work and communicate with others

to create the story of our life

Just like for this search engine,

- Connecting people, the stone, each of same value, through their associations and peers, a network of stone, always stronger than any individual !

- Valuing their knowledge and specifities, using simple pages, the stones, via URLs, the lines between the stones, to expand their territory, their visibility on internet, attracting more traffic for their activities.

Technically speaking about the logo itself, the 2 black/blue stones are caught in a so called “ladder” by the white stones. They have no way to escape.

The dot/point on the “i” of “ikalia” is a saving stone for the 2 black stones. if Black plays first, the 2 black stones will connect with that stone and be saved. If White plays first, he can immediatly capture the 2 black stones by surrounding them, playing on the right of the top 2 black stones.

This game is not about capturing, but this form shows that a isolated stone, like the one on the “i” can help and save other stones in another place of the board. It could lay down, much further from the two stones and still plays its saving role !

Well just like an invisible link between them, creating a powerful network that just need to be discovered and enhanced.

Ikalia project is much about sharing knowledge and connecting people using the invisible & virtual links that provides this fantastic net, the “inter-net”
